Unapproved Love is Okay

I’ve come to realize that truly great people do not seek approval from others.

Calorie Fretting

As the holiday season comes rolling around, we start to see a lot of blog articles about how to not ruin our diet during the holiday dinners or parties that are filled with decadent, calorie-laden dishes. Most of these articles tell us to eat an alternative to the usual holiday dish. For example, instead of eating mashed potatoes, we could eat a baked potato. Or, they tell us to plan a morning workout after the splurge to make ourselves feel less guilty.

Self-Remembrance

We usually ask children, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” But now that we are all adults here, it would be a worthwhile endeavor to change that age-old question and ask, “What kind of person do you want to be?” This is a difficult question, especially because we develop the image of our future self as we live through new experiences. So, if we were to give a definite answer at this moment, the answer would have to be quite broad. What kind of a person would I want to be?

A phrase that I repeat to myself every day is: “The world is your oyster.” Derived from Shakespeare’s Merry Wives of Windsor, the phrase means that you can get anything in this world with ease. The Wonderful, Guilty Choice

One of the hardest types of choices that we must make involves guilt. The involvement of guilt is two-fold; we feel guilt in making a choice and after we make that choice. Consider the circumstances in which we have two options. One is the socially-wise and the practical choice that is unfortunately not so appealing to us. The other choice is the one that we really want to make, but we know that we shouldn’t make that choice because of a personal or a social reason. There is guilt involved in wanting to make that “unwise” choice.
